About this map
The map shows the reported availability of Dublin Bikes at 15-minute intervals on the selected day. Each frame uses the latest station report recorded within that interval.
How to read the stations
Circle size reflects the number of bikes available. Color shows the balance between bikes and usable empty docks. Red stations have no bikes to rent; blue stations have no available docks for returns.
“Working capacity” is the number of available bikes plus available docks at that moment. It may be lower than the station’s stated capacity when equipment is unavailable.
Neighborhood layers
Residential density provides nighttime population context. Daytime density is based on 2016 data and helps indicate where people are present during working hours.
Sources and methodology
Dublin Bikes station data are from the Dublinbikes API DCC , published by Dublin City Council under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. This map uses historical station-status data for 9 June 2026. Reports were grouped into 15-minute intervals, with the latest station report in each interval used for the corresponding frame.
Residential population density was calculated as residents per square kilometre using the Central Statistics Office’s Census 2022 Small Area Population Statistics and 2022 Small Area boundaries provided by Tailte Éireann.
Daytime population density was calculated as people per square kilometre using the Central Statistics Office’s Census 2016 Workplace Zones. The CSO defines daytime population as people who worked or studied in an area, together with residents of that area who did not work or study. Read more about Census 2016 daytime population .
The neighborhood layers provide general geographic context. In particular, the 2016 daytime layer may not reflect changes in workplace patterns since the census.
